Want To Keep Christ In Christmas?

by Tammy Taylor~

For fellow Christians who really want to keep Christ in Christmas, there’s no need to demand that companies say ‘Merry Christmas’ instead of ‘Happy Holidays’ or shout about the design on a disposable cup.  It’s actually much easier than you’d think.

Let’s all strive for a kinder, gentler holiday season this year.

Thinking of Adding a Pup to Your Home this Christmas?

by Tammy Taylor~

When the kids were little we brought home a little black mini-toy poodle – our youngest named him ‘Toto.  Yep, you can just guess which of her favorite movies our daughter had just watched!  Toto was her constant companion from the time she was 4 years old until she was grown.  When she moved out after she graduated high school she even took him with her.  He lived a long time & died at a ripe old age of 14 years, well loved all the way through.

Are you thinking of adding a pup to your home? That's AWESOME! But be sure you're ready for the commitment. #TaylorMadeHomestead

Keeping the JOY in Christmas

by Tammy Taylor~

I love Christmas!  There, I’ve said it.  I really do.  Of course as a Christian, the celebration of the birth of Christ is deeply meaningful for me.  And there’s the festive decorations adorning our small tree.  I even add edible ornaments (ie: candy canes).  So if the grandbabies visit they’re welcome to eat our Christmas decorations.  LOL

I love gathering with our extended family who have always been a close-knit group. Whichever family member is hosting Christmas in any given year has only to provide some of the food.  We each bring our favorites to contribute to the meal.  That way no one family is burdened with doing everything themselves.  But even with all this seasonal joy I find myself falling into a dark funk sometimes. Maybe you do too?

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays??

by Tammy Taylor~

This time of year we often see shouting from different sides of the fence about the holidays.  Some are incensed that someone would dare take Christ out of the holiday, some are angry that someone is pushing for only homemade gifts while others are angry that some families like to shop for their Christmas gifts.  I find this puzzling and oftentimes very much counter to the season itself.  A season that typically promotes feelings of joy & peace.  You may not celebrate your holidays the way your neighbor does, and that’s OK!

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays? This year what a beautiful thing it would be to celebrate the season with the best gift of all: LOVE! #TaylorMadeHomestead

Just 3 Ingredients to MYO Natural Beeswax Lip Balm!

by Tammy Taylor~

RancherMan & I are new beekeepers.  We wanted to begin raising bees for many reasons: to help the declining honeybee population, to aid in our vegetable garden pollination and of course – HONEY!  But there’s another beehive product that’s been very helpful – all-natural beeswax.  We harvested a couple of frames of honey last fall so I could FINALLY have raw honey which contained ragweed pollen. I’m hoping consuming that raw unfiltered honey will help with my fall allergies.  But how exciting that I now have natural beeswax too.

I purified the wax from those frames and decided to use some of it to make beeswax lip balm for myself as well as part of our homemade Christmas Gifts.  It really couldn’t be easier – only 3 ingredients!  Check it out, y’all.

4 Quick & Easy Ways To Repurpose Denim

by Tammy Taylor~

RancherMan goes through his Wrangler jeans pretty frequently.  Between barbed-wire nicks and kneeling at the cattle chute wearing out the knees, sooner or later those jeans are no longer fit to wear. But all is not wasted –  I love all things denim!  So I’ve asked him to save those worn jeans for me.  There are several things I like to do with that sturdy denim material.  Come see!
