Calling All Homesteading or Simple Living Blogs!

~by Texas Homesteader ~

Recently I had a follower on my  Facebook Page share an interesting thought. They’re not located close to us and although they love reading our blog (blush) they wondered if there was a list somewhere of other homesteading blogs from homesteaders in different areas.  Their thought was that since there are some gardening season or altitude cooking differences based on location that it would be a helpful resource to have several homesteading or voluntary simplicity type blogs listed by region.  What a great idea!

CALLING ALL HOMESTEADING OR SIMPLE LIVING BLOGS! I'm compiling a list divided by area that I'll share right here on my page. #TexasHomesteader

Since readers typically come from all around I thought it would be great if there was a one-stop resource for readers to view other homesteading and/or voluntary simplicity blogs all in one place all separated by their regions.   So I’m in the process of compiling a list divided by area that I’ll share right here on my blog.  This will be a list of various blog sites that write about homesteading, simple living, or voluntary simplicity.  So if you write a farming/homesteading blog (or if you know of a great one) let’s share here! Comment below with your homestead/farm physical location as well as 1-2 sentences about your typical blog topics and include your blog link!  (I reserve the right to include only the blogs I feel fit the description of my project)  When I’ve gathered all the information I need I’ll compile the appropriate blog links into one post and even add a tab for them right here on my blog – asking all included blogs to share this list on their blogs as well.  What a great resource for the readers of all our blogs, right??  C’mon don’t be shy now – If you’d like to be included in this list and would be willing to share this list when compiled on your blog too – comment below!

~TxH~

C’mon by & sit a spell!  Come hang out at our Facebook Page – it’s like sitting in a front porch rocker with a glass of cold iced tea – lots of good folks sharing!  You can also follow along on Pinterest, Twitter or GooglePlus. If you’d like to receive an email each time a new blog post goes live it’s EASY to subscribe to our blog!

Simple living where you realize what you eat now impacts your family and years down the road. It is a choice to be outside, getting your hands dirty to give your life purpose and meaning.

Agreed, this is a great idea. My family moved to a small old neglected farmstead last fall in New York Mills, MN (Central Minnesota). We started blogging about our homesteading projects and progress on our little farm at http://mnhomesteader.com/

Our goal is to systematically head toward living an off-grid self-sustained lifestyle. We raise animals, tend a garden, homeschool, remodeling our small house, repairing our nearly century old barn, among many other homesteader activities…

This is going to be an awesome list! We live in an off-the-grid float cabin on a lake in Coastal BC. When we retired from big city life, we downsized and simplified our lifestyle. At I blog about gardening, cooking, exploring the backcountry, and everyday living in this unique environment. I learn a lot from homesteading blogs and hopefully can share some of the things we’ve learned along the way. – Margy

We currently live in Central Florida, with plans to move to Central North Carolina as soon as our home sells.
We are suburban homesteaders moving to a more rural landscape where we will continue to homeschool, make our own bread, scratch cook, repurpose everything we can, and live a pragmatic and simple life. We hope to add chickens and bees to the mix, as well as become frequent vendors to the local farmers’ markets selling our homemade wares. Our blog addy is: http://www..mymaplehillfarm.blogspot.com

I am a city girl from The Netherlands who has been living in Canada for 30 years now. We raised our 4 children on a mixed farm. I love to garden and write in my blog about this. I also am an enthusiastic crafter and share my projects on my blog so others can make the same projects.

What I great idea! Our little homestead is located in south central Alaska, which plays a huge part in daily life in everything we do. We have two chicken coops, a 2000 sq. ft garden, and a greenhouse, along with a ever-growing orchard. Growing veggies and fruits is a special task with our long, cold winters and long summer days! Annapearlsattic.blogspot.com is a blog about our simple life on our homestead in Wyoming. We are part owners in a small cattle/sheep ranch that was homesteaded by my husband’s family in the early 1900’s. We garden and can some of our own food, hunt and process our own meat, travel, the Mountain West, and visit as many Mountain Man Rendezvous as we can. I have been blogging since 2011 and have almost 30,000 total page views to my blog. I would be honored if you would include my blog in your homesteading list. In trade, I would be honored to put a link to your site on my blog. Thanks for your consideration.

HI, I am on the Gulf coast of south central Florida – Sarasota County – about half way between Tampa and Fort Myers. My blog is The Civilized Homesteader – Living Simply, Wearing Pearls at http://www.debbibenedict.com. Though I have been writing my blog for almost five years, I just switched over to a homesteading/edible landscape theme two weeks ago. Prior to that, it was more about the social life in Sarasota, where I was the society columnist for the local glossy magazine, but I am completely done with that and have switched over to writing about what I truly love! My definition of an edible landscape and self-sufficiency is – an edible landscape feeds me, the birds, the bees, the butterflies, and my soul; and self-sufficiency is creating a healthy, thoughtful, meaningful lifestyle where we take care of ourselves, our homes, and each other by learning useful skills and engaging in activities that create a better community. I hope that fits into your criteria!
